Why Won’t My Keyboard Type an Apostrophe?

Is your keyboard acting up and refusing to type an apostrophe? Don't worry, we've got you covered! The issue is likely due to your keyboard settings on your computer's operating system.

Step 1: Open System Settings from the Apple menu.

Step 2: Click Keyboard in the sidebar.

Step 3: Under Text Input, find Input Sources and click Edit….

Step 4: Check that the language you type in - English, for example - is in the list on the left.

Step 5: Make sure the input source is U.S. and not U.S. International - PC. If it is the International one, add U.S. and switch to it.

Step 1: Select Start, then Settings.

Step 2: Select Time & language, then Language & region.

Step 3: Click the ellipsis beside your Windows display language, choose Language options, and look at the Keyboards section. An International layout is the usual cause: use Add a keyboard to install the standard layout for your language and switch to it.
