Save a Report and Reuse It

Edited

If you open the same report with the same filters every week, you can keep it. Save Report pins the report and its filters to the top of your Reports page, so getting back to exactly that view is one click instead of four.

Step 1: Log in to your Teacher Portal here.

Step 2: Click Reports in the left-hand menu, then click the report you want to keep. It opens in a window over the Reports page.

Step 3: Set the filters you want saved with it. (1) Filter narrows the report by things such as class, students, units and lessons; a few reports put their filters straight into the header instead. (2) Save Report stays grayed out until at least one of them is set, and hovering it says so: "Apply filters, then save your custom report for quick access anytime from the Reports homepage." A date range on its own does not count, so pick a class, a group of students, a unit or a lesson.

Step 4: Click Save Report. Its star turns yellow and Typing.com confirms with Report filter saved successfully!

Step 5: Close the report and look at the Reports page. A new section headed All Saved Filters now sits above your report groups, holding one card per saved report: a yellow star, the report's name, and a one-line summary of the filters it carries.

Step 6: Click that card whenever you want the report back. It reopens with its filters already applied, so there is nothing to set up again.

Note: A saved report belongs to your Typing.com account rather than to the computer you saved it on, so it is waiting for you on any machine you sign in from.

Pro-Tip: Open a report from a class's or a student's Reports tab and it arrives already narrowed to them. That counts as a filter, so Save Report is live from the moment the report opens.

That's it! Your weekly report is now one click away.
