Why Can't I See Progress for the Stories?

Curious about why there’s no progress for Type Your Own Adventure stories? It’s all about the adventure and the choices your students make!

Where they are: the four adventures - When Robots Rule the World, Spellbound, Clandestine and The Game - make up the Type Your Own Adventure unit in the Creative Writing group. They do appear on a student’s Progress page and in your reports, but the Progress and Stars columns read N/A rather than a percentage. Everything else is recorded as usual: you still get Time, Speed and Accuracy for the typing your students actually did.

Here’s the Scoop:

Variety of Pathways: each adventure can take multiple pathways, with different endings and different lengths, so no two students type the same amount of it.
Flexible Story Length: Unlike standard stories, the length of these adventures isn’t fixed. It changes based on the paths chosen by the students, making it a moving target.
Exciting Uncertainty: Just like in life, it’s challenging to establish a percentage of progress because each decision at every junction leads to a unique outcome. Some paths are longer, while others bring the story to a quick and surprising end.
Adventure and Fun: The unpredictability of when and how the story will end is part of what makes our adventures so exciting! 😜
