Set Grading for your Classes

Edited

Grading lets you set the criteria Typing.com uses to grade your students' typing lessons, and to decide what a completed screen has to be worth. Follow these steps to set it for a class.

NOTE: This feature is PLUS exclusive.

Step 1: Log in to your Teacher Portal here.

Step 2: Click Classes in the left-hand menu, then open the class you want to grade.

Step 3: Click Class Settings.

Step 4: Open the Grading tab.

Step 5: (1) Under Automatic Grading, choose Letter or Points. (2) Under Typing Lessons, choose whether the grade is worked out from Speed or Accuracy.

Step 6: Enter your grading criteria in Set Perfect Accuracy and Set Lowest Accuracy. The grade table underneath fills itself in from those two figures, from A+ down to F.

Pro-Tip: to leave a grade out of the scale, hover its row in the table and click the red X at the end of the row. Anything you take out is listed under Excluded Grades.

Quiz Lessons is graded separately, from Set Perfect Quiz Score and Set Lowest Quiz Score further down the same tab. Until you fill those in, the panel says you have not set grading for this class's digital literacy lessons.

Step 7: Click Save All Changes.

Pro-Tip: Once students complete a lesson (not just a screen), they’ll receive a grade, which you can view in the reports. These results can be exported and imported into your preferred grading software.

That's it - grading is set for the class. For the minimums a student has to reach to finish a screen, and for star accuracy, see Can I Set/Change Typing Benchmarks?
