Can I Set/Change Typing Benchmarks?

Edited

Benchmarks let you set what a student has to reach before a typing screen counts as finished, and how accurate they have to be to earn the second and third star. Here is where to set them.

NOTE: This feature is PLUS exclusive.

Step 1: Log in to your Teacher Portal here.

Step 2: Click Classes in the left-hand menu, then open the class.

Step 3: Click Class Settings.

Step 4: Open the Grading tab. Benchmarks is the right-hand column.

Step 5: Under Screen Completion Requirements, set Min speed required in WPM, Min accuracy required as a percentage, or both.

A student who does not reach the minimum has to type the screen again before moving on. This covers the typing screens in typing lessons only - timed tests and tech literacy lessons are not affected.

Pro-Tip: If the field is blank (or set to 0), no minimum is required to complete the typing screen.

Students can earn stars after completing a typing screen based on accuracy settings available on the Teacher Portal. One star is automatically earned for completing a typing screen, regardless of typing accuracy. Additional stars are earned by meeting accuracy criteria.

Pro-Tip: leave both fields blank to keep the default accuracies.

Step 6: Under Star Requirements, set Min Accuracy for 2 Stars and Min Accuracy for 3 Stars.

The two-star figure has to be lower than the three-star figure; the panel will not accept it otherwise.

Step 7: Click Save All Changes.

That's it - the class now has to meet the benchmarks you set.
