Test Prep Unit (Great For Standardized Testing!)

Edited

The Test Prep unit prepares students for online standardized testing. It is part of the PLUS curriculum and sits in the Applied Typing group of every grade-level curriculum from 2nd Grade through 8th Grade.

What the Test Prep unit covers

The unit is eight lessons in four sections, one for each thing an online test asks a student to do:

  • Vocabulary Practice - a single lesson, Test Prep Vocab, on the words test questions are built from.

  • Reading Comprehension - three passages chosen for the grade, typed and answered. In 5th Grade they are Monarch Migration, The Violet and Rule-Breaking Mammals.

  • Fill-in-the-Blank - one lesson, Build Your Own Story.

  • Written Response - the three formats a test uses for open answers: Short Answer, Essay Questions and Timed Response.

Like every Typing.com unit, Test Prep builds typing into the work: the product's own summary of the unit is that students learn essential test-taking skills while also developing their typing fluency. That matters because speed and accuracy are what a student needs to finish the essays and open-ended responses an online test asks for. Typing.com Test Prep Unit Requirements covers who can use the unit and how to set a class up for it.
