Differences Between Teacher, School and District Accounts

Edited

Curious about the different account types on Typing.com? Here’s a quick guide to the unique features of Teacher, School, and District accounts. To see which one you are on, open My Account Settings from your name in the top right and read the Account Type row at the top of the page.

Teacher Accounts

The product calls this a Classroom account, which is what Account Type reads on your account page. A home school account is the same thing - choosing Homeschool Parent when you sign up creates a Classroom account, so everything below applies to it too.

  • Classroom Management: Unlimited classes and unlimited students.

  • Student Administration: Add and remove students from classes.

  • Progress Tracking: Monitor student progress with various reports.

  • One Teacher: Your classes are taught by you alone. Adding a second teacher to a class needs a School or District account.

School Admin Accounts

  • School Management: Oversee a single school with one or more teachers.

  • Teacher Collaboration: Invite and manage unlimited teachers and unlimited school administrators. They need a Typing.com account of their own before you can add them.

  • Classroom Flexibility: A class can have more than one teacher. Each class gains a Teachers tab, with Add Teachers and Remove Teacher from Class on it.

District Admin Accounts

  • District Oversight: Manage a district with multiple schools.

  • School Creation: Create any number of schools within the district.

  • Comprehensive Management: Invite and manage unlimited district administrators, school administrators and teachers across the district.

You can move up between these - a Classroom account can become a School or District account, and a School account can become a District one - from Account Type on My Account Settings. It only goes upwards: there is no way back down once you have converted.

Choose the account type that best fits your needs and make the most of Typing.com’s powerful tools for managing and enhancing your educational experience. Happy typing and managing!
