Change Individual Student Settings

As teachers, you strive to differentiate instruction for the diverse skill levels of students in your classes, especially those who require accommodations through their IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or 504 plans. Typing.com allows you to support your students by adjusting individual settings to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Let’s explore how to customize settings for individual students to ensure their academic success!

Note: These changes are available exclusively with a PLUS membership.

Pro-Tips:

• This feature lets you give one student different settings from the rest of the class.

• Always check the student’s settings first if you’ve made changes to both the class and the student settings.

Step 1: Log in to your Teacher Portal here.

Step 2: Click Classes in the left-hand menu.

Step 3: Open the class the student is in.

Pro-tip: Use the search bar at the top of the page and type the student’s name to quickly locate them.

Step 4: Open the Students tab.

Step 5: Tick the box beside the student, then click Student Settings above the roster. It stays grayed out until you select someone.

Step 6: The window opens on Student Settings: [student's name], with a tab for each thing you can change: Details, Games, Lessons, Grading, Goals, Advanced Options and Accessibility.

Step 7: Make your changes and click Save All Changes.

Clicking a student's name opens their own page, and Student Settings is right there on it - handy when you are already looking at their progress. Arrows beside it step to the previous or next student in the class.
